I think I understand your concern. It may not clear in the photo that the idler pulley is flat, not V. Thus the flat surface of the idler pulley is pushing against the flat surface of the V belt.
Yes it can give a problem because the V belts are thick and are not designed to work this way.

If you look at the recent second item photos the last two photos are on a cm grid sheet which should give a pretty good indication of the dimensions of the item. 19 cm long or around 7 1/2 inches.
