Uhhh, 'little areas"? You ARE removing the upholstered back panel, then the steel firewall access plate, aren't you? The job is ridiculously difficult to do from the engine bay (I'm allergic to carburetors digging into my chect...). Note that if this comes up very often, its simple to cut the fiberglas panel at the central bubble (the uphostering on the bubble is a separate piece as-stock), then hold the separated bubble onto the padded steel firewall panel by velcro. Access after this mod is then a matter of seconds while seated- my kind of work!
Thanks Jack. Actually once I knew where the hold down bolt to the distributor was, it was real easy to get at it from the engine bay after removing the engine screen. I wasn't messing with timing measurement, only a small tweak to retard the distributor somewhat. I do know what you mean about the carb though, I came close to taking my eye out about a year ago.
