Loydd,
I replaced the entire clutch set up. Adjusted the slave and the clutch when it was cold.
The clutch disc. sperates fine. Goes into all gears smooth except for reverse. Grinds when trying to go into reverse.
I have to turn the motor off, put it into reverse and then restart the motor with the clutch in. Car does'nt move at this point until I let out the clutch and then reverse works fine. Going from reverse to 1st is no problem after that.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
Coz

Well you my have already done damage to the leading edge of the gears, first of all you have (3)gears that have to engage for reverse to work and they are not synchroed, with the input shaft moving when your engine is at idle the reverse idler gear moves into the reverse sliding sleeve and the reverse gear for it all to work, all the rotating mass has to slow down to engage all the gears so sometimes you have to go into any forward gear first to slow the rotation down and then go into reverse, but if this has been going on for some time you may have rounded off the leading edge.
Lloyd,

Here what I did and found out today. While having someone depress the clutch, I notice that the slave stop was not touching the stop on the slave holder. I tried adjusting the plunger as much as I could, but still wasn't enough. So I unbolted the clutch lever from the shaft and moved it forward one tooth. Readjusted the plunger until it actually barely touched the stop on the slave holder, checked to make sure there was no air in the system, warmed it up and made some pass through the parking lot. It's now going into reverse with no grinding. All forward gears are smooth. Clutch feels strong and very positive.

As a habit, I always go through other gears before putting it into reverse.

The grinding was not brutal, I would never take it that far, so I think I'm ok in that regard.

Thanks Lloyd...always appreciate your advice and help.
Coz
