A skid plate at least under the bellhousing is an excellent addition- especially if you run low profile tires which can lower the car even more. One Mangusta snagged a protruding manhole cover at 'some' speed. It smashed the bottom half of the bellhousing, broke the flywheel & clutch, cracked the front of the ZF case and left the car undriveable a few yards past the obstruction. I TIG-welded the 'jigsaw-puzzle' of expensive broken castings back together & it was quite a chore. The damage was so complete, the welding heat warped the ZF case and bellhousing like potato chips, forcing me to then true up the welded parts on a big milling machine. It all worked out but was not a cheap fix for the owner!
Thank you Denis. The "original" skid plate must have covered from the oil pan almost all ZF gearbox, judging from the pics.

I now understand why my oil pan has been "cut" or reduced.... Will try to figure out the approx measeurments from the photo.... I have sen pictures of your car, and I asume yours doesnt have one, correct? I suppose most of the skid plates were removed by the owner?
No my car does not have a skid plate. The bottom of the bell housing has been shortened and I can say that I have not had the misfortune of having hit any road hazards with either the oil pan nor the bell housing. FWIW I have 245/50R15 & 305/50R15 so the car sits quite low and I can say that My car had been driven more miles than most Mangusta. 8000km in 5 years. Smiler
