I've been running a NASCAR-type open plenum intake, very similar to the Dominators, on the street without much trouble and with decent mileage. But I used a Holley 600 vac-sec to get crisp low-end throttle response and 17mpg. With either of those big carbs, you'll be less than happy, I suspect, unless you hang out mostly at Texas World Speedway or the like. Figure on 3-4 mpg less and a soft low end, then a gigantic boot in the rear. To each his own....
"Your mileage may vary." fwiw/fyi

I'm running a 750/vac on a "Holman & Moody"
(according to the po) intake - 351 "built for torque" (unimpressive is my take) that dyno'd at over 325hp @ 6000 and still climbing (none of this makes any sense.)

Mileage??? can't seem to beat 19 or 20mpg.

HERE'S A QUESTION! SINCE MY 13.0 MILES PER GALLON SEEMS TO BE KIND OF ON THE LOW SIDE. ON MY 74L CLEVELAND WITH STOCK CAM (.480/.490 LIFT), AFTERMARKET HEADERS AND WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED TORKER II AND HOLLEY 750 VAC, SEC. HERE GOES: I INSTALLED THE HOLLEY MECHANICAL (STREET) FUEL PUMP. NOW THE LITERATURE CLAIMS A MAXIMUM OUTPUT OF NO MORE THAN 7.0 PSI, AND THAT A PRESSURE REGULATER IS NOT NEEDED. NOW IN THE PAST I HAVE READ THAT THE HOLLEY NEEDLE AND SEAT ARE ONLY GOOD TO HOLD BACK 6.0 PSI! MY QUESTION IS THIS; IS THE PUMP PUSHING/WASTING EXTRA FUEL PAST THE NEEDLE SEAT CAUSING AN OVER-RICH CONDITION AND THEREFORE KEEPING ME FROM OBTAINING A HIGHER MPG? THERE IS NO BLACK SMOKE AT ALL, COMING FROM THE EXHAUST, AT FULL ACCELERATION OR AT ANY OTHER TIME!! BUT IT DOES FEEL LIKE IT COULD BE "DOWN" ON POWER. I DO HEAR A SLIGHT "BURBLE" DURING HIGHWAY CRUISING, AND AT IDLE (1000 RPM, AS PER THE "SMOG PLATE" INSTRUCTIONS). THE ENGINE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AT A "MILD LOPE", BUT PERHAPS AN INCONSISTANT "RICH MISS", THIS SOUND IS ALMOST UNDETECTABLE. WOULD INSTALLING A HOLLEY REGULATER SET FOR 5.5 TO 6.0 POUNDS MAXIMUM, HELP IMPROVE HERE. I HAVE NOT AS YET OPENED UP THE CARB TO SEE IF THE PRIMARY JETS MAY BE TOO LEAN. I HAVE ADJUSTED THE IDLE SCREWS FOR THE BEST "POSSIBLE" IDLE. PERHAPS I WILL JUST HAVE TO TRY IT OUT AND REPORT BACK WITH MY FINDINGS! ANY IMPUT IS CERTAINLY APPRECIATED! THANKS LOADS, MARLIN.

Marlin,
(me giving you advice?)

I would monitor the a/f ratio: 1) on a dyno; or 2) under load on the road; or 3)do an old-fashioned plug check

What ever you trust. if the plugs look good or the dyno monitor says 14 to 1 you are good to go.

I know my supercharged tacoma ALWAYS has a black sooty exhaust but the dyno showed a good a/f ratio, it runs strong and I can get 26mpg on a trip so I ignore the tailpipe.

HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE 800CFM LIST 6213
DOUBLE PUMPER WITH #8 BRAIDED LINE AND
HOOLEY HIGH OUTPUT PUMP WITH GREAT LOW END AND TOP END WITH ABOUT 15 MPG WAS HOPING FOR ABOUT THE SAME. wHEN I REMOVED THE "STOCK" CAM I FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT A STOCK UNIT SO MUST HAVE HAD A HIGHER LIFT THAN .500 oNE OF THE REASONS WHY I WANTED INPUT FROM THE CLUB MEMBERS BECAUSE EVERYBODY IS RUNNING A SMALLER CAM AND CARB
THAT WHAT I WAS PLANNING BUT STILL NOT FAST ENOUGH. lAST C-6 I TRIED ALMOST BEAT ME HAD TO TURN A/C OFF. HOPING TO STOP THAT PROBLEM FOR THE FUTURE
