Mine is #9178, just about in the middle of the GT5 run. My front lenses are all Amber in color. However this doesn't mean that they were not once amber/white and were replaced at some point in time by the original owner before I brought it over from Europe in 2000.

Jack explained some of the differences in my car vs. the earlier cars in the recent POCA newsletter if you happen to see it.

I have learned over the last 5 years with this car that the factory used a lot of parts here and there from different cars and years when putting the later cars together.

I've seen a few other 'real' GT5's here in the US, and there's a few of them I've seen that didn't have the amber/white lenses in front either, but then I've seen some that do.

Maybe the amber/white lenses were used in the latter GT5 run as they started the GT5S production run of cars.

Don't really know Larry....Hmmm. Maybe my car is really a Volkswagon made to look like a 'real' GT5. Eeker

If you figure it out, please let me know.

Coz,

Hmmm. I thought your car was a 'real' GT5, and that they all came with the two-color units. Can you clarify?

By the way, that set has sold. I am offering another, though.

Just pulled one of them with the wiring. Found one bulb socket, 5 wires into the connector on the main harness side, 2 of which were used for the side marker lights which I took off and taped off, 3 wires that come out of the connector to the turn signals which has one wire that was cut and taped back together and joined with the other 2 at the single bulb socket (not by me) which also led to the side marker light at one time.

They've always worked so I thought this was the way it was suppose to be. However, when I had my side marker lights, they never did blink if they were suppose to, they just lit up.

The housing on my lenses are plastic. Also noticed that the pods in the damm where they sit have had the centers cut away. Mine are held in by 2 clamping bolts and levers on each side.

Obviously they can't be the original turn signals or lenses.

Also, looking at the 2 different wiring diagrams just now for the early and late cars, they are both showing that there should be 2 bulb sockets for the turn signals., 3 if you count the side marker lights.

Another wiring modification nightmare by the previous owner I would suspect. And I thought I had them all straightened out.

When you had those lights out for your repaint, did you notice one bulb socket, or two for each light? If there's only one, it's possible if there's another it could be taped back a little further down the wiring harness out of sight.

Cool, now I know the side marker part was at least right when I still had them on.

I'm seeing Yellow, Black and Blue wires.

You know... if I remember right, it was a while back, I did find a small bulb socket on each side that were not the side marker bulb sockets that were really smashed in these area's. I remember cutting them off and just taping the wires off since I didn't see anywhere to put them. Maybe these were them....

Please let me know what you find...

Thanks Michael.

My marker lights don't blink, they are hooked up to the parking lights. I'll take out a signal light tonight and give you a run-down on the wiring.

Just talk to Larry on the phone about my set up. Mine have been changed somewhere along the road before I got the car.

Going through the wires and mounting points for the right lenses with Larry, everything is there as it should be as original for the right lenses.

Easy change back to original lenses which I'm going to do.

Thanks Larry !....and Michael.....As usual, you guys are great !

The lamps, that are offered here, are cheap copies from the Dacia 1300 from Rumania.

Roland,

Correct. But when I bought the metal units from Wilkinson, I paid about $280 to get them to my door. These 'cheap copies' give the same look, and do not cost a small fortune. Remember, these are mounted very low, under the bumper, and the difference in appearance from the 'real' and 'cheap' units is so slight it really doesn't matter. From five feet away, there is NO difference. And if you didn't have the two side by side, you would not find any reason to call the plastic ones 'cheap'. I prefer to think I am able to offer 'economical' GT5 lights to those desiring this look.

Still on eBay; buy-it-now at $125, bidding starts at $90.

Couldn't agree more Larry.
Thanks for being one of the few that really try and help fellow Pantera owners out.

Coz,

This picture is of the pass side park/signal light. I'm holding it as it came straight out of it's body mount. Three wires are visible: The blue wire on the left is for the amber signal light only. The yellow wire on the right is for the white parking light only. The red wire attached to the yellow wire is a jumper to the amber marker light mounted on the fender.

Apparently, the buckets ground the lights to the body with the screws. When the lense is on, the amber is on the outside (left), and the white is on the inside (right). These are single filament bulbs, so when the lights are turned on one click, the white light comes on and stays solid. When you signal, the amber one blinks independently with the lights on or off. It seems they went from a two filament bulb to two single bulbs. Maybe they weren't getting along?

Becasue you did more than one Michael.
If posting more than one, you have to post as slide show. (6 downloads)

But what's wierd is only one picture is showing up....The one you sent me of the wiring connections isn't showing up.

I just tried to post the picture of the actual wiring you sent me and it's posting the same way as an attachment and not the actual picture.

Don't know what's up with this...
