There are two conditions necessary to upload photos successfully to the bulletin board; that is to submit them in the proper format, and then to size them to fit the screen.

It is possible to upload them as they are stored on your digital camera with no editing if your camera is configured properly. The camera should be configured to save the pictures in JPEG format, which is a data compression system. This will make the file small enough to be accepted when you try to upload it. Second, the camera should be configured to take pictures with the minimum picture quality, which should be 480 by 640 pixels. This will allow the photo to fit the screen.

Pictures that are stored in the wrong format, or with too many pixels, will require editing.

To edit the photo with Windows XP, Download the pic from the camera to your computer. Open the picture, right click & select edit.

Along the top of the screen you'll have some choices: File, Edit, View, Image, Colors, Help.

Select image, the drop down will give you more choices: Flip/Rotate, Stretch/Skew, Invert Colors, Attributes, Clear Image, Draw Opaque.

Select "Attributes", set the units to read pixels, and now you can read how many pixels your picture has. You want no more than 640 in width or height.

To alter the pixels, exit Attributes, select Stretch/Skew. Enter new numbers in the Horizontal & Verticle fields to reduce the size of the photo; the number to enter will depend upon the size of the photo, the fields are percentages, if the original was twice as large as needed, entering 50 (50%) will shrink the photo to 1/2 size.

Exit strech/skew, go back to Attributes, and check your pixels again. You want to get the width/height down to no greater than 640 x 480 it doesn't have to be perfect either, 600, or 660 will both work.

If the size of the photo is OK, the final step is to change the format of the file, which reduces the size of the file.

Select File at the top of the screen, select "Save As" from the drop down window. In the field that says: "save as type" select JPEG. Name your photo, choose where to save it, and hit enter.

You are ready to upload the photo to the bulletin board.
