There are a couple places everyone checks for Pantera's. I thought this might be a good place to post adds found which are a little more off the beated path. I am sure it would also help Dave and Linda find more contacts. Either way it might help those searching find more cars for sale.

Here is one I stumbled across:

That ad for the white Pantera has been there for about a year. I personally called on the maroonish Pantera in the second ad mentioned and was told by the person answering the phone that it was sold in 2000. So much for finding standalone ads.

In my case, the car was for sale on eBay and I kept bidding on it. The reserve wasn't met by the end of the bidding, despite the fact that I was the high bidder, so I contacted the seller and asked about an "out-of-auction" sale.

The rest is history and "Sophia" now has a new home.....

P.S. -- Yes, we name our cars in my household -- LOL Big Grin
Ebay seems to be a good source of finding Panteras these days.
Even PI shows them there.
The higher prices are indicative of what's happening with Panteras.
I would also join in the song that the purchase price is just the beginning.
You can buy a restored stock car for what a basket case can sell for.
My opinion is that there are only two kinds of Panteras, restored ones and ones that require a restoration.
If you don't know what that means, you will find out.

One of the big advantages of buying one in need of a resto is that you can do it your way. And you know exactly what's been done and how. How many times have people bought a car thinking that everything is a-ok only to find out that the workmanship wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
If you buy a car that has been restored and it is "cheap", the car is not restored but wrather "freshened up". These cars are 30+ years old. It still needs restoration. All you have done is buy some time. A truely restored car will be $50K and upwards.

All your doing with a car that's been "freshened up" is buing yourself time before you really restore it.
I agree, but it is new potential buyers that need to be forwarned.
It is like DT says that if a car is over three years old, or out of waranty, one needs to be able to work on the car themselves.
A Pantera isn't a particularly quirky car, but nothing seems to be easy to do it.
It is truely an exotic vehicle. Even a $50,000 resto isn't necessarilly going to guaranty anything.
The question is still where are cars for sale (besides the mains stream adds everyone sees). There are a lot of people who sell their Pantera that have never heard of PIM, who don't use ebay, etc. These cars show up from time to time in obscure local adds here and their. These are going to be some of the best deals. I thought it would be a good place to post them when found.

That applies to pretty much any 30yr old car. A Pantera is not that quirky. Try a old Ferrari, Jaguar, etc.
I had bought mine sight unseen and had it shipped for $800 from Utah. For the price I paid, it could have been a lot worse and I still could have done ok.

There are probably some Pantera guys around northern Indiana that could look at it for you I am sure. You could probably contact a northern indana Ford/Mustang club and see if some one could look at it for a fee (some one outside the seller).

I have found by sitting down and searching obscure adds, one by one they pop up in the strangest places off the beaten path.
