I hope you've got a good reason for wanting to change your stockers! First, early Panteras had slightly different length & width a-arms in front & back, than the later cars, so be sure you tell your vendor what year Pantera you have. Second, if this is the upper rear a-arms you're changing because they are too short, be aware that the REASON they're too short is that your rear frame longerons have sagged & spread, causing the rear tires to tilt inward at the top. If this is what happened, replacing the upper a-arms is like bandaging a bullet hole... IMHO, the frame should be fixed and braced. OK- Pat Mical of Future Auto in MA has custom a-arms, Dennis Quella sells custom a-arms with big heim-joints in place of upper ball joints (and I think all the major Pantera vendors also sell these.) Shop around for the best price which changes periodically at each shop.
You can much delay the day you need to replace ball joints by simply adding zerk fittings to ball joints, tie rod ends and the lower rear pivot shaft. Zerk fittings are threaded 1/4-28 and after drilling & tapping, you'll only get about 2 threads in the bases, but thats enough to withstand grease pressure. I did all mine quite a few years ago & detailed it in a POCA newsletter article. The ball joints need a 'long-reach' zerk since the drill hole will be in a recessed area that then cannot be accessed once a std zerk is screwed in. Missing zerk fittings is common- Ford's Pinto for instance never had them, and several companies immediately began selling 'kits' to install them.
