coolant filtering?

I use a Tefba filter on my Pantera. Works great! I know other's in the past have posted pictures of the crap the filter has caught and kept from going through their radiators, but can't find those links at the moment.

The beauty of this filter over others such as the Gaino filter is that you can open and clean it without draining your cooling system or struggling to pry hoses off a filter.

No. There was already a length of hose there, so I merely fit it in the space where the hose was, albeit shortened the hose into 2 shorter lengths.

About once every 6 months to a year, although the only time it really seemed to catch much of anything was within the first few thousand miles of rebuilding my engine. It caught bits of gasket sealer that would otherwise clog radiator tubes.

there was no 1 3/8".

Given the ease in installation you show, and with a rebuilt engine, seems like it should be a "must do". that would be a LOT simpler that what I was thinking, it still looks stock and could be removed.

Yup. They don't make one in our size. If you order one from a seller that says his fits our size, you will most likely get the 1.25" unit with two wide, thick rubber bands you are supposed to put around the Tefba necks to take up the slack.

Or you can buy the 1.5" size, and wrestle our 1.375" hoses to fit.

I solved the size misfit issue by buying two silicone hose adapters.

Despite a lot of searching, the stepped adapters I needed just couldn't be found in inch sizes.

Then I found out they are usually listed with metric dimensions.

What you want is a 38mm x 35mm "straight reducer"

I bought mine from a UK eBay seller. At the time, no USA eBay seller offered the reducers in black, just blingy ricer colors.

Today I did find one USA eBay offering in black.

UK pricing per item is about half USA pricing. But with postage, buying at USA prices with free shipping comes out about the same.

Two reducers will set you back about $30

Be aware you need silicone-specific "T-bolt clamps", four of them. They aren't cheap, either.
IIRC, I found them cheapest at Summit.

But we have $50K-$100K cars. Do we really need to scrimp buying $50-$100 worth of parts?

This is what I did. PITA to get the hoses onto the Tefba filter. I had to soak the hoses in boiling water, coat the filter ends with silicon lube, and wrestle the hoses onto the filter ends. As I said, Pain In The Arse! Larry's step hoses look like a very cool solution.
