Wow that car is drop dead gorgeous. I've always done well with yellow. Probably sold a couple hundred in that color. I remember having an original paint yellow I bought out of Pittsburgh, was a late '74 with only 8000 original, & the guy that bought it said paint it RED. I said NO this car is a late '74 original paint, mint! He said no pbm. If you don't want to do itI'll find someone that will! DAMN. Turned my stomach to bust it apart :-(

As of late, silver is the most popular, selling best. We're doing them in silver now.

Interesting that my car 4975 has the dual pod dash vs the single pod on your 4981

Dashes were based on when in 1973 the cars were made!

The "later" cars in 1973 had the single pod dash!

I was under the impression the single pod dash didn’t start being used until just prior to 5200. I know for sure 5165 didn’t have one. Black bezels on gauges too. Perhaps it was converted to the late dash? It’s not too hard to tell because the mounting brackets are different. Pretty common conversion. 

My understanding  is single pod dashes and vin#s are not a hard and fast rule!

In Italy they often mixed these things in production.  Sometimes later cars had earlier items and visa versa for later cars.  Les Grey and I have had this discussion multiple times  😀

After hearing about a 3 pedal 360 with low miles on this site I checked it out on bringatrailer.com. I liked the color inside & out and the auction was at $80k which wasn't bad for a serviced 19k 360. I spoke with the owner a bit on here and kept an eye on the auction today. When I registered it asked for my credit card which was red flag #1 and as I read the fine print I saw they add a 5% buyers fee up to $5,000 for your purchase. With 4200 360's being sold in the US & Retail for the car currently being $82100 I was out. Have others on here paid fees to purchase Ferrari's before?

BaT is an auction site, there is nothing screwy about it, it has a very reasonable (IMO) 5% (max $5,000) buyers fee and $99 to list sellers fee. I find it crazy that the people who are buying and selling cars at BJ and other major auction houses are complaining about a 5% buyers fee! It's disclosed up front and you bid accordingly, you just don't get plied with drinks to help loosen up your wallet!

Buyers are the ones who get hit with fees. So if anyone is interested in my car buy directly and avoid the 5% fee!

That being said, why not just use ebay, or maybe you already have. Same price to list, much much larger saturation + buyer pays nothing to ebay in buyers fees [which may or may not be an issue, I for one wouldn't care  about the 5 G's if I were buying a high dollar Countach or Boxer which I couldn't find elsewhere] that BAT avenue would work for me. Additionally, at any given time such as now as we speak, there are twenty Pantera for sale on ebay...V.S. none on BAT. So where would you shop? How 'bout here:

Hemmings. HMN gives you 6 months for 99.00, also goes all over the world. Theres 45 of them for sale there as we speak!

Doesn't get much better than VIN 7220 produced June '74 carrying original paint. According to Ford production records this car is 1 or 2 from the ~last~.

If you offer your car for that kind of money, maybe some $Ks more, which is a heck f.....n lot of money, you will get it sold.

A high bid at auction is no representation of market value, nor is a single sale. Why do so many people try to talk these cars down and deride a sellers ad?

#4981 appears to be a nice original survivor car, Hagerty Valuation has a #3 'Good' condition '73 at $82K (May 2019) and their valuation is built of a cross section of sales. Maybe the market is on the decline but I think Warren is priced fairly at current market.

eBay pricing doesn't matter as much as the market exposure, it's the cheapest few bucks you can spend to get Worldwide exposure IMO.

The here offered car is a very nice original Pantera, no doubt about it.

 And you are right, it is not good to talk it down in the offer. So I gonna stop here, but ingorance of the facts is not reasonable, the least to say.

Very nice original car here!  Warren, I assume you have the tub and fasteners as well? 

The color looks exactly like mine. 

I've never done business with BAT but it looks like a fair way to sell a car and the interaction between buyers and sellers in the comment section is something unique that you won't get at Hemmings, Ebay or the live auction places.

Just placed my car on Ebay and it's getting alot of interest!

Quite frankly it's the most original and by far the most reasonably priced for a car such as this. The added benefit to the new owner would be no taxes or dealer fees incurred by new owner!

What I said was I bought the car. It did not sell at Mecum. I believe Pantera’s are worth in the $70’s and $80’s   I personally only buy as investment.  And I buy lucky. 

Mecum was below the dealers cost. I wish I could have bought at that price.   I just can’t tell my wife another car lol.

I don’t think the term ignorant is polite nor was Mecum a good example since the seller didn’t sell the car.  I have been collecting cars for 40 years and have a few. The Pantera is a good investment as a classic.  I think Warren could get close to his ask from the right buyer.

If I hear I would certainly turn your way.  I am in the buying mode but varied taste and after three mustangs thought Pantera would add to ford era. I normally collect Europesn but this is Euro American and Italian.  I like British and Italian. Rather a glutton for punishment.  LoL

What can you tell me about all the systems on the car. What does work 100% correctly, what doesn't work at all and what works partially. Have you done any cooling system upgrades, does the A/C blow cold. Is it the original compressor or have you converted it to a Sanden compressor and R134? Etc etc Thanks!

FYI I bought warrens car. we are just waiting for all the mail transactions to go through. I have owned and still own many cars but never a car with Ford drive train. The car was on my bucket list. Im excited! Recently sold my 1 off RUF BTR C4 and I needed a different replacement! This will definitely be different! jim

Congrats. It’s my first Pantera also and in St Louis to be moved.  Just completed 2500 mile gentlemen’s rally with 80 supercars and in cab from Chicago to toronto   Looking forward to adding my Pantera.  I have some horse and other cars and bikes. Enjoy your new purchase.
