Here is a shot of the finished insert plug as shown from the back of the car looking forward. You can clearly see the dropped floor and the lid edge running the perimeter of the lower floor. This floor area can be removed and a clear bottom put in. The clear floor will be able to have a cover bottom so you can use the trunk to haul needed items and then remove the protective cover when you arrive exposing the trans-axle. This clear insert will also be optional in the insert bask exposing the engine.

Here is the new insert as see from the back of the car looking forward. You can clearly see the AC hump and lower dropped floor. The edge as seen around the dropped bottom is to hold the lower lid which will fold in half. The lid makes the exposed floor flat and hides the cleaning goodies you want kept hidden.

Keep in mind it is designed not to touch any surface (one inch minimum clearance everywhere)inside the engine compartment except the 12 fasteners around the top. The fastener drops will be installed into the mold after it's finished.

Here it is---thank you for looking.

Wow! Now -that- is a work of art. So much nicer than my stock tub with so many angles and stick-outs and odd shapes it's hard to figure out how to pack. This looks so nice, a breeze to fit items, a nice hidden compartment underneath with what looks like plenty of space for exactly what Kirk mentions: detailing equipment, polishes, rags, towels, even some tools. I'm drooling already and I don't even need one. Smiler

I'm anxious to see the finished product.

What is your final covering Kirk? Are you looking to do felt, carpet, or perhaps bare carbon fiber? Ah the choices in life.

Kirk,

David B and I were talking about this and wondered why you would even need the fasteners at the top edges. As you know, early cars (mine) have screws while later cars have the DZUZ. But in both our opinions no fasteners are needed. I never attach mine nor does David.

If you don't do the fasteners then the same tub will fit all Panteras. Maybe you'll bring some to Kingston this year? Wink

Keep up the great work!

Mark

Mark and Dave,

I'm building 2 styles---one with Dzuz locations that will be dropped so the only thing touching will be a small area sitting on top of the original Dzuz receivers. The second will use a smaller version of the original door weather strip so the entire perimeter sits on a soft rubber seal. Either way no hard surface will come in contact with any part of the inner structure.

Thanks guys

I wish my motor didn't sit back too far to be able to fit a stock dimension trunk. Frowner

Perrysburg?
I worked for Glasstech in Perrysburg, OH, small world. Smiler

Are you running a big block? I do have the ability to shorten the tub but it does not extend in front of the camber bar so it should fit any engine change.

What did Glasstech do?

Kirk,

Will a version without the a/c condenser hump be available for the cars running a front mounted condenser?

Yes in the early style---pre 9000 cars which is coming later on. I will be able to make a later version with a flat back but the cost will be high since the add-on mold change will be a one off.
