Stock (Factory) brake pads are shockingly expensive. A better compound is made by Porterfield. Only issue is that the rear Factory pads have a notch in the back of the pad, which keeps the piston from turning the 90 degress or so and backing out.
PCNC member John Bentley wrote a short article on how to add a screwhead to act as the notch. The details should be on the NEW - PCNC website shortly.

The vendors offer the factory pads, and aftermarket compounds too.

I agree with Chuck; I use Porterfield pads in my Wilwood front calipers. Some of the vendors will sell 'used' stock pads at a lower price than for new, but this only delays the inevitable, I'm afraid. If your favorite vendor won't, it's probably because of liability concerns. He doesn't want to hear from your next-of-kin on the issue! Brakes & tires on a car with the potential of the Pantera are NO places to cut costs IMHO.
