I am in trouble.
If you can reach in to access the shocks, can you reach underneath and up to access the trunk latch and help it or unbolt it?
I tried to reach the latch, but with the guides on the side, cannot touch it. Hoping if i unbolt the lid from the car i can lift it off. What do you think?
I was in the same predicament but was able to reach the bolts. Do you have a boroscope you can use to get a look?
I do. Did you unbolt the latch mechanism from the deck lid?
Yes. Used a 1/4' drive with every extension I had! I don't remember if this was before or after the AC condenser was moved. That will make a considerable difference.
What was the outcome?
We ultimately unbolted the decklid from the car. That enabled us to rock it to the side and us a long screw driver to knock the shock off of the pin on each side. Once the shock was removed, moving the decklid around to get it to release from the car was easy.
The shocks are so strong that they crushed the latch mechanism on the decklid. I will be ordering the lock and the decklid portions today to put it back together.
Thanks for all the help!!!!
You might want to look at the shocks. Excessive force can damage the decklid.
THese are not standard. This is the kit I used:
Ah. Good choice. I have them also. Now I can picture what you did.
