Another example of Pantera being the most ruined supercar in the world IMO
I though Vittorio Strosek just desinged Porsche, Nissan and Mercedes. Now this ... very interesting but no car for me
Interesting that with all the work on the exterior the person did nothing to the interior of the car.
The VIN Number in the Craigslist ad looks sort of close, but it can’t be right....
THFNLL0473?

The add-on nose etc for that MA car seems to resemble the last (1988) two or three GT-5 & '5S Panteras which DeTomaso then carried over to the Pantera 200s. But I was not aware anyone named Strosek was involved in those designs.

?????? For me it's not a DT factory kit , it's a Amerisport bodykit .

I believe Simon is correct. I think that is from Kirk Evans. I think it looked better than what Detomaso came up with the SI or 200.
I googled Amerisport Pantera, and came up with this picture from George’s site.
It doesn’t seem to be quite the same car, unless they changed the sugar scoop and rear wing, but the tail treatment looks to be the same. This one also doesn’t seem to have the glued-on fiberglass body work.
Wouldn’t a car with the VIN number of 1473 have to have been retrofitted? I would assume the Amerisport cars all came in a block or had much later serial numbers.

I believe The car pictured above is a real GT5-S. The early car for sale has the nose, tail treatments retrofitted. I am not sure if the last of the Amerisport cars came with this treatment or the if it was an option. There was some speculation that the factory took the Amerisport design and modified it for the
SI.
SI.

To be honest, a Si looks like it's a upgraded
Pantera GT5-S , but it's a total different car the body ,fenders, doors, chassis , suspension , electric wiring , cooling , fuel cell aso all is different .
Only the ZF is the same and I think the rear decklid.
It's the best driving stock Pantera I known
But the only bad is the less powerfull stock 302 HO engine.
Maybe Kirk Evans have seen the Si /2000 Pantera concept on the DT factory and try , what Kirk always is doing , fabricate a better styling kit for the Pantera's
Thats why some people like the Amerisport more than the SI style.
Only Kirk can tell us the truth.
Kirk?

I think Kirk's design might have superseded the SI but I could be wrong. I remember an ad in the DuPont registry that was in the late 80's, early 90's that had a red GT 5-S with this treatment. Kirk has a good eye for design.

There was a fiberglass Si kit for sale for a while into the USA , showed on a red GT5-S
Including fiberglass door extensions and rockerpanels , while the Si have wider steel doors , steel rocker panels and a wider taillight panel.

I knew Uwe personally. He was a famous car designer and a nice guy but a bad businessman.
That made him end up in cling film, horrible end.

I am aware of three Amerisports with the 90 Si treatments of the front and rear bumpers, about which Mike Drew has previously written as follows:
It would be interesting if Strosek had a hand in designing or manufacturing the front and rear treatments. However, this is the first time I have heard the name associated with De Tomaso, and so I am sceptical.
I have never seen it disputed that Marcello Gandini was responsible for the 90Si bodywork redesign. That said, the fact is that the three Amerisports preceded the 90Si. We do not know the brief Gandini was given, and so for all we know he may have been instructed to incorporate the Amerisport bumpers into his design in order to make use of the existing parts to save money. However, this is all speculation on my part, and so unless Kirk can shed some light on this, we will probably never know for certain.
Here is a photo of two of the Amerisports (#9492 & #9494).

There is (was) another one of these cars in southern NH. This photo was taken at the New England Dragway and published in "Whip's Wheels', a local summer paper listing car shows and events.
I went to visit Rick. The car is red, grey interior, windsor engine. Sorry, i didn't get the VIN or any photos.
