It seems to me that of late better cars have come to the market and the prices haven´t been on a rusty-MGB-level anymore. Does that mean that there might be a slight chance of me someday justifying the cost of restoration of my car?

Or is it a case of forming a sentence out of the following words:

hell - Snowballs - chance - in

This one went for 24000 euros, I believe..

This one was one of the better example to come to the market:

I don´t think this will quite fetch what they are asking for, but still..

Couple of years ago this seemed to be the norm(Sold for less than 7000£)..

Jani,

I can't say there has been any major change in values in Australian Longchamps and Deauvilles based on recent sales. There has been a car dealer trying to sell a Deauville for some time at around A$50,000 (31,000 euros) but I think a nice Longchamp Spyder had success around this price +.

They are such rare cars that I think the better prices are achievable on the international market, but advertising locally (not to specialised DT enthusiasts) does not have much success.

Factory RHD Panteras and Mangustas have a solid market here, and I would say that they yield better prices than comparable LHD cars. Longchamps and Deauvilles just don't rate with the general market so upside is probably limited very much to DT enthusiasts, particularly Pantera owners that like the practicality and rarity of our cars.

Unlike others in the forum, I am only familiar with the market over the past few months, so my comments are limited to that period.

That black car is nice and very low mileage is genuine.

Red does not suit our cars IMO.

Arguably the very last GTSE (1988) in RHD is in a Maserati red and still for sale here in the UK for £27K GBP!

Stuart,

don't you want to tell these guys that someone down your way is having a run of front screens made for the Longchamp?

My local glass guy told me that the French company who made the originals is still in the glass game but I don't have their contact details nor do I speak French.

I think this site should have another Parts For Sale & Wanted just for non Pantera DT's to help us keep these cars running.

Re the windscreens. I will find out the details on this and put it on the forum for everyone. I am still waiting on mine to arrive and still not sure on its final price.

I think Phil's idea to have a parts for sale or wanted forum is a good one. We could also use this to gauge interest in limited production runs of things like windscreens and pass this info onto suppliers.

Altough this section is named as a tech forum, I don´t think that George would mind us expanding this a bit, as has already happened(perhaps by "sticky" threads?). Any non-pantera stuff disappears in to the other sections, and it´s very important to reach the critical mass to make this useable way to exchange information. I´ll pm George, and ask him about it.

Guys,
Do any DeTomaso enthusiasts buy any DeTomaso cars hoping to recoup their expenses? There are much better marques for this.
I love my Pantera and have sunk many $$$ which I may some day recoup. But, I did the restoration for my pleasure.
I think we own Detomasos because they are wonderful cars with uniqueness and timeless styling. And, for a mechanically challenged individual like myself I can handle many repairs at a reasonable cost.
If you plan on keeping the car a long time I say go for it, and enjoy the process.
4134,

Well, I got into this project with open eyes, and thought from beginning that unlike my previous projects, this one would an expensive mistake if I would need sell it in a hurry.

My choice of a Longchamp has been an obsession from the start, as even my wife has been telling me that I am insane for selling my cute Alfa Spider for "an ugly car". I guess I am just a little bit depressed of not driving a classic, as this is only second summer in the past decede that I haven´t racked at least 10000+ kilometers in a classic.
