I went with a complete MSD setup, 6a box, Pro-Billet distributor, super-blaster coil and tach adaptor to fire the Tach. I am very happy so far with the setup however, read the posts regarding the opinions of Jack and others that electronic boxes will fail and leave you stranded. The suggestion then is to carry an extra box with you. I have even seen where one guy mounted his spare box and could flip switches to change from one to the other. There have been lots of posts on this site on this subject, if you do a search with "msd" in the search field you should get quite a few hits

Good luck

Runs for 7 minutes, then shuts down! WOW! These Panteras are full of tricks! I don't have a clue that could help you Dennis. I would probably go through and test the entire distributer set-up, and wireing (sounds like you already have). Especially CHECK for GOOD GROUND at the dist. HOUSING!! Intermittent problems are the most difficult to find. As far as a replacement, I went with the Mallory Unilite distributer (with vacuum advance, saves gas on the street). It bolts right in! 3 wire hook-up. And the Tach works flawlessly as before. NO hint of trouble with it yet. Good-Luck, Marlin.
