Be sure you actually are getting oil pressure gauge senders. There was an idiot light sender in some Fords that may be confused with the gauge sender in some aftermarket catalogues. U.S. Pantera vendors have the correct part.

And at best, the real sender is amazingly IN-accurate. I once borrowed a dozen senders from a shop and, plugged into our engine & stock gauge, I got NINE significantly different pressures- one was 50% off! I use the stock electric gauge as an idiot-light, with a mechanical gauge plugged directly into the engine on a tee fitting when I want real oil pressures.

The only gauge in the car that I ever found was accurate was the fuel gauge! At one of the fun rallies in Las Vegas there was a quest speaker that was involved with DeTomaso during the production of the Pantera. I asked him why they didn't use sending units that were made for the Veglia gauges instead of the Ford ones. He said that it was most likely cheaper to use the Ford units.

I first switched to VDO gauges and later changed everything over to Auto Meter when Wilkinson had the speedometer, tachometer and the rest of the gauges made with the DeTomaso logos. I takes makes it nice to actually know what is going on with the engine instead of correcting for error.
Thanks for all you valuable comments. Fortunately, I could yesterday fix my oil pressure sending unit issue. Stupidly I had put a bit too much teflon sealing tape around the thread and a small piece of it had found its way to the tiny hole of the sending unit blocking it. Could fix that issue quickly and was relieved to see the pressure gauge working again.
