Pertronix?

I am about to install a pertronix unit in 1332. I am running the stock distributor and plan to install PN 1281D the Dual point unit for Ford 8 cylinder. Can I use the stock coil? My local engine builder recommends a MSD coil part number 8203. If I use the MSD coil I should use the ballast resistor that is supplied with the coil right?

AJ, run whatever "ballast resistance" is recommended by the coil manufacturer, and bypass any resistance built into the wiring harness of your car. I'd run whatever coil is recommended by Petronix, or your mechanic. Do not run the oem coil.

I also advise you to run the ignition supply through a relay, and bypass the ignition switch.
