"THE FIRST RULE OF ITALIAN DRIVING! WHAT IS'A BEHIND YOU IS OF NO IMPORTANCE!!" (FRANCO IN "THE GUMBALL RALLY") SERIOUSLY, I DON'T HAVE THE FIX FOR IT. HALL PANTERA SELLS AN AFTERMARKET MIRROR WITH A MAP LIGHT THAT CLAIMS TO SOLVE THE VIBRATION PROBLEM, BUT IT SELLS FOR AROUND $200. REGARDS, MARLIN. OH, I ALMOST FORGOT! "THE FIRST RULE OF AMERICAN DRIVING IS; THERE ARE NO RULES!!"

YES!! THAT'S WHAT I'AM TALK'IN ABOUT!!
As you probably know, the inside mirror snaps off and on a steel mount that's glued to the glass, and is held more-or-less tight by stiff flat springs built into the mirror base. If you add some rubber thingy between the mirror & the mount, any looseness is 'shimmed out' and most or all the vibration goes away. Just be careful in adding shim materal- if you crack the glued-on mount off the glass, you get to start over!

Jack,

How interesting, Ive never seen a Pantera with the inside mirror glued to the glass. What model year did they start gluing the mirror to the windshield?

How is the best way to remove the rear view mirror? Do I merely grasp the arm and pull down at an angle? I certainly don't want to mess anything up.

Thanks

Dave
2 points please. 1, at 100mph dont you need to be watching whats in front of you and not what's behind you. And 2, later in the movie did you see the part where he is looking for the rear mirror because the helicopter is chasing them. I think he makes a remark to the fact.

YES! At any high speed driving, MY eyes are on the road! What is behind me "Don't mean noth'in". In the movie "The Gumball Ralley". Just before the race starts, and they are still back in the garage in New York prepping; Franco snaps the rearveiw mirror off of the Ferrari, throws it in the back and makes the statement. Maybe you are thinking of another movie or of the Cobra; which by the way, if you ever see that movie again, when they get to the point where they are driving fast through the L.A. aquaducts and they come UP OUT of there, if you look real close and fast because it's just a flash shot, you will see that they "Lost it" in the water because the idiot driving smashed up the nose on that beautiful 427 Cobra. And I was wrong previously, there IS ONE rule in American driving! And that is BE FIRST at the FINISH!! All the best, Marlin.
