No issue. I just was curious. I have a black Delrin knob made by Auger.

It sits the knob down on the original lever as far as it can go and not have threads popping out of the top.

In effect it makes the shift lever a "short throw" lever.

If you fully thread the knob, or more correctly maximize the thread bore, you can ajdust the height of the knob to suit.

Here's what mine look like installed. See how shortened the lever seems now?

That's all in the knob. The chrome lever is still the original one.

The laser cutter is neat. Would love one of those.

One thing that Auger is correct on I think is using Delrin. It is never hot or cold. Think about that after parking you car in the sun in Phoenix in the summer.

With the winter we are going through here now, my hand would instantly freeze to that aluminum knob if I didn't have a glove on.

Like your tongue freezes to metal outside in the winter.

Some mornings it's been -10 to -15 F. That's pretty cold for us. No freezing your hand to the Delrin.

Fatter is better on the knob for me. I had to try two diameters. The first one was too thin.
I hope that's stainless on the lathe- aluminum will probably get really hot in Summertime or after a 'spirited' drive. I've touched the stick and its hot-coffee-temperature after a couple of hours of highway driving. If you need shiny, stainless doesn't transfer heat as well as aluminum. I use a stock knob- one of a handful of things that are still OEM on our car.

I got the stuff to do cloisonne enamel some time back like how emblems are made. If I ever get free time I will have the top milled out on a cnc then bake the detomaso emblem in different colors.

Well try that to see if you feel it in your hand. I do. I like the knob smooth.

Cosmetically yup the medallion is the way to go but form follows function and if it is smoother then it works better therefore is more beautiful? Smiler

I can make more then one.

There are a bunch of people who would like the Delrin knob that Auger made. He stopped making them. He made two runs and that was it.

I am pretty sure that if you made some out of the Black Delrin like mine you would sell them overnight.

The Delrin does help with heat transfer. Hot or cold.

I always thought McMan (Chris I think) could have CNC cut a DT logo into it but I'm happy for the function. It was all great thought on his part.

I do get it though that some people like the original look of the original tall shifter and that my setup looks too much like a "joy stick". That's appropriate. It is. Smiler

The boot is his too.
