Good to know on the teeth count.

I made some measurements with the starter out.

The stock starter with no shims would be an almost perfect fit, cover 100% of the flywheel thickness which is about .300" on mine.  It has about a .100" gap between starter gear and flywheel tooth.

Note: This .100" is the exact distance the Power Master and Meziere say to have as well yet neither of them does and they don't provide shims in the box to get to that distance.

The Power Master and Meziere would need about .300" of shimming to get the same coverage as well as the .100" initial gap.

So far, the flywheel teeth don't have much damage from this debacle.

Hope to get the DB Electrical starter tomorrow and measure before stuffing it in there.

Thanks for the education.

DB starter showed up today.  I did some measurements and added longer mounting studs to the bellhousing.  Spun the engine over really well and doesn't seem to be hanging up.  I hope to get back to may cam break in soon.

I will keep the Power Master and Meziere on hand here if Summitt doesn't take them back.  I also ordered Ford 3/32 shims from doorman and will have those for a rainy day as well. DB didn't require any shimming.

Thanks for all the advice here.
