I have some type of gray goop substance dripping down on the engine side of the firewall which I believe is coming from a 4 X 3 X chrome box just above the regulator (a dilute gum sticky substance). Not sure what this box isit has wires coming out of the top that are not hooked to anything. I am sure it is an original part, as the car is original and has not had a restoration. So, it looks like it isnt even hooked up! Maybe some AC part since my AC isn't hooked up?

Anyone have a stock Pantera left that can tell me what the chrome box may be? The thing is leaking grey sticky spooky stuff, but no wires are connected at the top of it. I am going to get into the engine bay this weekend and see if I can pull the thing, and hope nothing is connected on the other side of the firewall.
Chrome box ? No. Could you mean an aluminum box ? OR one that was chromed ?
I'm thinking of the ignition module...
Like a Ford Duraspark (I or II), 4 or so wires coming from a Duraspark, going to coil etc...(Red, black, gray, green ???)
Just guessing.

What about one of those boxes intended to reduce radio noise ?

Let us know what you find out !

Oops!!

The hat looks good on me, and the strange device (what ever it is) now sits on the fireplace mantle, like some kind of exotic art piece. The strange unexplainable things prior owners have put in these cars!
