I have been looking at Pantera's for some time now, and i begin to wonde how many of those adverticed are actually sold !!!!

What is a Pantera like this one REALISTICLY worth, if it was sold outside Ebay by a private party/person ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6472&item=4537297151&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I would like to bid on it at some time during the auction, but beeing a Novice I wouldnt know what it was worth IRL, for all i know the seller could be biding it up by using an other account !?!?

Does anyone Know this Pantera ?

clocked at 228 mph WOW !!!!!

I spoke to the owner yesterday 3/20/05 I read his add placed on "Trader On line" His asking is $42,000. Seems like a straight forward guy, this is his 3rd Pantera, lack of space, and a non enthusiastic wife are the reason for this cars sale. I'm trying to get by and look at the car tomorrow, I'll let you all know what I find. And yes he does believe the car went 223 mph, man the previous owner was GOOD! Eeker
There has been some discussion of this car on the deTomaso list. Apparently it was built, wrecked, and rebuilt by Junior Wilson prior to his building the tube frame car. Here is the gosphel according to Mike Drew:

> He went from a 351C to a Fontana Clevor and eventually a massive 572-inch (or whatever) stroker based on the 460, all aluminum. That motor made something like 900 hp and 890 ft/lbs of torque.

> He blew a tire, which wrecked the rear of the car, fixed it, wrecked it again, and on and on. One day his navigator took the car out onto a side street to do a burnout, lost control and crashed it into a parked car, smashing the hell out of it, and hitting so hard that he was ejected through the windshield
and landed in the street, badly broken (not only was he a total idiot, but hewas a total idiot not wearing the safety harnesses).

> Eventually Junior purchased a very, very lightly damaged 1974 Pantera, cut the body away from the chassis, and had a tube-frame chassis made. (Coincidentally I purchased the rear of the chassis which is now in my car). The monster motor went into that chassis.

> He then returned the 1971 car to more-or-less original condition and sold it. That's the car that you now see before you. It looks MUCH better than when I saw it last!!!

I would be willing to make time for a interested party that was serious about this car, a truley rookie look mind you, I've been in the paint and body buisness for 18 years, but am a new Panter owner.
I am interrested in the car, and i have been writing back and forth with the owner, but i dont think its worth the $42'some K's he expects for it...

Thanks Mark.

I will however have to be sure the owner isnt set on the $40K+ becourse i dont think that the car has any particular higher value than the average rustfree Pantera, seeing that the engine is a near standard 351 and not the "bomb" that was in the car in the past...

Mark.
Dont get too helpfull now, I just might take you up on that offer, The White GT5 upgraded Pantera is up for sale again on Ebay, dont know if you have seen it ?

White GT5 on Ebay

It just might be interessting seeing that the car doesent seem to need any work..
(I know its a 30'some years old car so that might be a bit of a bold statement but you know what i mean ;-)

Southern Cali is a big area i guess ?!?
But ill just have to see how the auction turns out...

Regards Hasse.
