Can't see the pic, but I can tell you that the Aussie rear caps are the same.
We built em with rope seals, but when they get rebuilt we just push the locating pin out and seal up the tiny hole so the rubber seal fits straight in.
Are you sure you didn't get a 400 C rear cap ??
as they had bigger 3" bearings as well.
Just so you know, NO aussie block had 4 bolt mains.
all our engines that had 4 bolt mains, were the GT spec engines that were imported.
Also I use felpro rear mains on all the clevos that I build, and have NEVER seen a different size rear main. I don't even think it could be a 351M rear main as I am sure they were not 4 bolt mains.
does it have ford part numbers cast into it ?
perhaps that can help ?
Just looking at the pic again, I bet this cap has been machined for a 1 piece rear main, like the late windsors.
perhaps a race team had done this when they had the caps on their block.
When you fit the caps and have it all line bored, they can machine your block so it all fits and convert it to 1 piece rear main.
So it is all not bad news !
good luck.
Tim,

No 351C left the factory machined for a one piece seal, not even the XE blocks. However, an owner may have machined his block in that manner when installing a Windsor crank designed for a one piece seal.

There aren't too many people selling used Aussie parts in this country. If you're dealing with Phil Newell (Oregon) he seems to be a very straightforward guy.
