Fuel Pump Eccentric Rattle

I'm replacing the mechanical pump with an electric fuel pump to serve the FAST EFI. I have heard that just blocking off the fuel pump opening with a plate will allow the slinger ring on the eccentric to cause an audible rattle. Can anyone corroborate this concern?
