I need some help with sourcing where DeT obtained the door lock mechanism or what car it is common with.

It's the internal part, I have the handles etc and the striker plate.

My left hand (drivers side of LHD car) door mechanism looks like its a Jaguar part and different from passenger side.  It does however look identical to a 69 Alfa Spider 105 Duetto from 69 which we also have.  The key difference is that the Alfa Duetto Spider does not have the little button to unlock the door.  Apparently Alfa 1750 Saloons / Berlinas from 68/69 do have a button and are highly likely to be same as 105 Spider.

Anyone shed any light on what the door mechanism is from (or - he says in hope...) a spare LH mechanism they want to sell?

cheers

Larry

Larry, as I can tell the door latches are the same as used on Alfa Spider. Tav 97 of the Duetto lists pn 105.03.555.079.00/01 for earliest Duetto, and the revision changed to /04    http://www.duettoinfo.com/alfa...o/parts/002-1251.pdf . A "Farina" part number  is listed on the base part book. http://www.duettoinfo.com/2016/1184-1600spider.pdf . I don't have a parts print from later 70's Spider, anecdotally here is a very uncommon NOS (right side ) latch https://www.105955507800/01eba...p2060353.m1438.l2649

The 2nd picture below is taken from the internet and ID'd as a Duetto latch...I see what you mean, the Duetto seems to have the lock attached to the door handle--but no pull-up button is either on this picture or shown on Tav97.

Btw, I think Denis commented that later Goose also does not have the pullup--lock, but use interior door handle press to lock... https://www.alfabb.com/threads...t-door-locks.437017/

Nate, that's a great help and thanks for the DuettoInfo website.  I'm in Willy Roos' Register and knew of Veloce but not Duettoinfo.  Full parts books online ?  Unbelievable!

My car is a later Goose 1208, and the more we delve into it, a German finished car.

I'm now starting to doubt the pull up knob too.  car isn't with me so I need to go look and see what's there

All I now need to do is find a Left Hand door mechanism - There are 4 for sale all RH!!!

Thanks again, help is much appreciated

cheers

Larry

Ok, so this has taken another turn.  When we compared Mangusta with the Duetto locks the shape of the spindle is different plus there is a small triangular (sort of) piece attached to the side to allow the button shaft to be pulled up to unlock.  Both lock mechanisms are made by S.A.F.E.   Both door trim panels have button holes and finishers on both side door panels at the top and they even have the original chassis number marked on the rear of panel.  They just don't look as if the car has ever been re-trimmed.

Could his be yet another "German" finished car anomaly?

Does anyone else have door button or do you all lock the door from inside by pushing the handle down?

Cheers

Larry

Larry, Since the Mangusta was assembled on the same assembly line as the Ghibli, any chance the locks are similar? or modify an Alfa component. As Lee stated my car does not have the button but only locks by pushing the handle down. Also, as per Roland in the German Mangusta article, those cars were misfits from the assembly line and the guys did what ever they needed to do to get those cars finished.

Yes quite probably a Maserati component we just had a 68 Duetto sitting in workshop that we could compare but not a Ghibli. I’ll take a look and see if a Ghibli has a push button. An Alfa guy is looking at a saloon Alfa from same period where he thinks they have the button, if not will have to see if we can dismantle an Alfa lock and copy design.  It’s just hours of Labour really!

Larry, the latch on 8ma1076 is exactly as your Mangusta 2 picture (showing that triangulish wart there, not the pin as on Duetto 2). So good news, here is a picture of what are called "maserati" ...bad news may be the "poa" , good news they may actually have the part.

https://www.autoepoca.it/brands/maserati-parts/

These may be for Mistral, but they do Not seem to be on Ghibli, 3500, or the QP (at least, the pics on Eurospares suggest Not for Ghibli...and the eurospares part number is a type 109 (109 - BO 56358).

(btw, if there is any view of the the car that seems to avoid the view of the paparazzi, it is the inner door frame....but here is a view of the Mistral), at least the mounting screws look right for the Goose...)--Lee

Yes always the POA / Enquire dilemma!
I did look at Eurospares site for Ghibli, it is illustrated as having a shaft for the button but a small drawing. Also different part number. Different  p/n 115 BO66316/65855 depending on if early ‘ late chassis number.
I have some feelers out to a couple guys who might have something that will work, one being a retired Maserati restorer who converted 10 Mistrals to Spyder and kept one… he helped me find a set off NOS Carello rear light lenses.

as the Beatles song goes ‘I get by with a little help from my friends…’

will keep you guys posted

cheers

Larry

Thanks for that hadn't seen it.  I have some feelers out with a couple of guys, one converted 10 Mistrals into Spyder for leading Maserati Specialist here in UK so has some contacts and a race colleague who builds race Alfas is looking at his no longer needed bin of parts.  Car is in bare metal at moment so I have some time although I ha=ve asked how much the Autoepoca ones are....

cheers

Martin, my guess is that either they are shared with Pantera, or they are fully unique. Wilkinson supplies these pieces for Pantera, see the picture https://pantera.infopop.cc/topic/mangusta-lock-set

But otherwise, I think at least the collar you need to replace is probably unique: I've looked and cannot identify which car used the same cylinder for a trunk lock (its not a Fiat 1100/1300, nor an Alfa share as I can tell---remotely maybe an Alfa Giulia SS) but as a trunk pushbutton, that supporting sleeve is completely different...

...or, maybe a place to start--take the trunk latch from a Pantera first and cut it down...Lee

Anyone know the name of the snap on clips that hold the lock barrel in place?  While stripping 898 down for paint I notice I was missing the one on the drivers barrel...  which was causing the issue I had noticed a while back of the button going in too far.   and of course if anyone knows a source for them I will name a child after you!!!  (not my own of course, just one chosen at random)
