Does anyone know how much refrigerant goes in a system that has both upgraded evap and upgraded condenser mounted in the rear? It's the condenser from a vendor with an extra row compared to stock. I was told 2.5 pounds? Does that sound like too much? I'm really not impressed with the performance of this newly installed A/C. It cools down as long as the sun isn't shining. Ha! I've upgraded the hoses and a 3 speed blower fan as well. New compressor and expansion valve too. It blows about 45 degrees in the morning when its about 80 degrees..but when its 90-95 out it it doesn't cool as good. Not sure what the temp is blowing when its hot out. I've even added clear tint to the side windows and windshield that provides 43 percent heat rejection. It's called LLumar Air Blue 80.

Yes, new dryer although I had a leak initially in the new evaporator, had to get it repaired and taped off the lines while it was getting repaired. Then had a high pressure line get burned by the header because I didn't tie wrap it out of the way. I lost almost all refrigerant as a result of that. I taped off the compressor and the condenser ends where they connected while I had that hose repaired. Hmm..maybe that dryer should be replaced. I did pull a vacuum on it before filling it. Would you happen to have a part # on that dryer so I could get it locally? I think the expansion valve takes place of that evap valve? What are your thoughts on the 2.5 pounds of refrigerant?
Hey Devil...yes, I installed the shutoff valves and I have yet to connect the heater hoses to the evap. Do dryers go out partially or are they either good or bad? I also verified that the fan over the condenser is pulling air from the rear of the car into the engine bay. I'm using the stock fan. I tell you, this is Texas and the humidity is very high.
