I was looking thru a box of parts the other day for something completely different and ran across this piece! It is the original piece that came with my Goose a bazillion years ago......but was replaced with a more modern remote version that fit the new engine config better. So here it goes..... $40 includes shipping. You can FINALLY buy new Ford style repops and make them into a DeTomaso repop.....if you have the machine tools, nothing special, but if you do not have the ability to do...Read More...
It’s weekend… what else would you build.. I wanted to have the ability to know how my battery and charging system is doing so I decided to have a voltmeter.. now there is not a lot of possibilities to install one unless you exchange it for something else.. BUT there is a rocker switch in the bottom of the panel that has no function or is Paying rent for being there… Eviction is the consequence and here it goes i found a LED voltmeter on Amazon And it showed up yesterday so I tore apart and...Read More...

The GTS project that I received in February came with a vacuum pump for the power brake booster. The pump is needed because its 8 stack EFI does not readily supply good vacuum for the booster. I got a battery into the car and began sorting out the electrical systems including the vacuum pump. The pump is working and was cycling on and off. It seemed to provide good vacuum to the power brakes. The only issue is the pump is LOUD and sounds a little like my cheap 21 gallon Harbor Freight air...Read More...

1991 DeTomaso Pantera 90 Si, chassis 0025

Fuzz
Just received a message from Dupont Registry that a 1991 DeTomaso Pantera 90 Si, chassis 0025, has been put up for sale. Two owner car with its original window sticker. Now you don't see that too often! Placed a call to the seller's agent to inquire about their asking price. Any educated guesses what the car is worth before I get a response from seller?Read More...

Door opener- broken bucket

LeMans850i
Interior is still out and I noticed when I took the door opener off to do some paint touch up (not correctly installed and damaged the rear of the cutout in the door skin) that the buckets left and right where broken and also the handle return spring on the driver side was broken… you can see the cracks on the webbing going up from the spring! I sent the passenger side opener to Larry, @If-tp2511 and he artfully made the lock fit the key I had and he also replaced the not shiny trim around...Read More...

The restoration of #4164

#4164
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Stephan and living in Yardley, PA. Being the proud owner of a 1972 Pantera, #4164 which I acquired in December 2023. The car was accidentally found on craigslist while looking for something completely different. Located in upstate NY, the previous owner disassembled the car and was planning on fully restoring it before he became very ill and had to abandon the project. Being an aviation engineer he was meticulous in planning out the project and...Read More...

The GTS project that I received in February had been sitting for five years or so. There was no fluid in the brake master. I have all four brakes back on the car and everything is hooked up, sealed, and bled. If I pump the brake pedal several times there is a firm pedal. When I come back in five minutes or so the pedal goes to the floor. If I pump it several times the pedal is firm again. It seems like the brake master is tired. What are your thoughts? Thank you.Read More...

Brake Light Switch Retrofit

tsolo
It was recently brought to my attention by a fellow motorist that my car had no brake lights. So, I took it home and jumped out the wires at the switch and sure enough the lights came on. Failed brake light switch. Searching the forum, I found the general consensus was to retrofit a mechanical switch and do away with the pressure switch. There are a few examples that can be found on the forum but they lack some detail so I thought I would document what I did in case someone else considers...Read More...

Seat Track Roller Removal

The original seat track rollers are flattened out and I want to remove them and replace them but I’m not sure how to get them out. I have the track slid as far one way as they will go so one of the rollers is as close to the outside as possible but it seems like I need to get something in there to pull them out but there doesn’t seem to be much room. Any suggestions for how to remove them? Thanks!Read More...

Air cleaner assembly fresh air to breather

So here is a question!! The stock air cleaner has a fitting and foam filter on the outside “can” of the assembly. (outside the round main engine air filter) The hose to the fitting goes to the breather/oil filler cap on the right side engine valve cover. This makes sense as this is the fresh air intake for the engine ‘internal breathing” and works with the PCV valve on the left valve cover which is connected to the carb. base and is metering air out of the engine under vacuum. Some of the...Read More...

Butt-enhancement… L bumper delete

LeMans850i
I was eyeballing this mod for quite some time now and I always came up with “if someone accidentally bumps my car I will be grateful I didn’t do the bumper mod… it’s the smart thing to do/not to do”… We had to take the bumpers of for some other work and OMG that thing is heavy… and the mounting struts are even heavier… and all this BEHIND the rear axle…. i just couldn’t help myself…L - Bumper is gone and instead I opted for 2 useless but much much lighter pieces of fiberglass! And I think it...Read More...

The interior on my 1972 Pantera is original… no question about! You sit down and a cloud of foam dust is exiting the seat cushion left and right where the seat back is attached…and the seat vinyl is not prepared to stretch anymore it will rip if you sit in with a spirited motion! The glue holding the vinyl on the tunnel covers covering the heater box decided to be sticky but refuses to hold anything.. somebody decided to put loudspeaker holes in the door panels and those previous mentioned...Read More...
