Building a Gr4 replica

Still working on the front of the car. This is the underside of upper part of the front panel latch crossmember. WTF!! I surely hope that the person who left it like this had the intension to finish it properly?

New repair panel fabricated

Old panel removed and new welded in - including lightening and went holes

Just need to trim the valence and add the mesh screen then the front is done

As per the other side the suspension mount reinforcements was added

Again - these are copies of what the factory installed on the very early cars

OK - the front end is FINISHED - a lot more Work than I had anticipated - but talk about milestone !!

No time to celebrate - moving on to the driver side center structure - need to fit and install the outer rocker. First some trimming of the b-piller and experimenting with adding strengthening and wenting holes on the rear part of center rocker and b-piller.

Got in some time the last couple of days of the holidays.

Worked on fitting the front fenders. I have one NOS passenger side fender and a new driver side topfender. The Hood is also a NOS GT5 Hood with stamped went holes

This may look easy, but it takes an incredible amount of time to make sure everything fit and align as good as possible

Continued Work on the driver side outer B-post skin. In place - fits with small adjustments only (thanks Johnny)

You said it man...!! It's amazing how long it takes to make it right. And it looks like you are getting it right! Congrats on the progress.

Thanks for comments and yes, the outer B-post skins are from Johnny. As mentioned earlier they are a beautiful and easy fit(compared to all the other Work I've done on this car). So thanks Johnny.

Here I fitted the passenger side B-post skin

Moving on to the rear fenders. Started by seemwelding the inner roof seems.

Cleaned up the rear panel edges in preparation to fit the driver side rear fender

Experimenting with the fender. Needs quite a lot of twisting and mingling, but will fit eventually. Also need to get the decklid and the other fender in place for alignment before welding

I've started to accumulate the parts I need to finish the chassis for the painter. That included the gr4 flares, aluminum door skins, the roll Cage and the WHEELS.



Here are the Wheels - a set of 10 and 14 inch Gr4 Wheels !!! Crazy stuff. I need those (and tires) to set the fender flares.
